Their methodology is different, based on values such as commitment, solidarity, effort, and camaraderie. The AFE Schools—with headquarters in Madrid and Córdoba—are fundamental pillars of the Spanish Footballers’ Association, an example of training for projects involving footballers of both genders. Now, this methodology is expanding its reach and will be implemented in China, a country that has been determinedly investing in the beautiful game for years, especially focused on youth categories.
Our association has reached an agreement with the Winners Academy to implement the AFE Schools’ methodology in several schools in the city of Guangzhou. Dozens of students, up to 17 years old, will learn the secrets and philosophy that have been key to giving our schools a unique and distinctive character.
The agreement was sealed in Guangzhou by Jesús Barbadilla, ‘Jesule,’ vice president of our association and president of the AFE Schools, who was accompanied by Miguel Hernández, the methodology coordinator.

The agreement has a duration of three years, and each year, several Spanish coaches will be responsible for training the footballers. Honesty, generosity, humility, solidarity, and respect on and off the field are the values that AFE now aims to spread in Asia.
Likewise, as part of this project, Chinese coaches will travel to Spain to be trained and learn the training methodology of the AFE Schools.
The coaches from our association will receive Chinese language classes to ensure smoother communication with the students and facilitate the learning of our methodology.
It is worth noting that Xi Jinping, the President of the Chinese government, is a great football enthusiast and was the driving force behind making football a compulsory subject in schools from the age of seven.
